UCR – Postdoctoral Position – Malaria Gene regulation, Epigenomics and Life cycle differentiation

THE OPPORTUNITIES: A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Le Roch at the University of California, Riverside (UCR). Current research projects within the laboratory focus on malaria parasite life cycle progression, gene regulation and epigenomics. We aim to understand parasite development at the epigenetic and chromatin structure levels. We are particularly interested by developing new Genome wide methodologies to better understand the role of lncRNAs in cell differentiation and pathogenicity of malaria parasites at single cell resolution. We aim to enable high resolution measurements of epigenomics and chromatin structure at single cell level. Understating gene regulation on the basis of “Single Cell Systems Biology” will be instrumental in our understanding and prediction of pathogenicity of malaria parasites over time and under varying condition. This new position is dedicated to NIH-funded projects focused on chromatin structure and gene regulation (Hollin et al.,Trends Genet. 2021; Batugedara G., et al., Microb. Genom. 2020; Bunnik et al., PNAS 2019; Bunnik et al. Nature Communication. 2018, Lu et al.. Nucleic Acids Res. 2017 and Bunnik et al.. Genome Biology 2016).
